The knowledge Search Engine

Search Engines

Wolfram Alpha has been launched on the web as a computational knowledge search engine, whereby the user can enter problems and queries to be solved, returning answers and factual data relevant to the search query.

Originally started as a pet project by Stephen Wolfram, a British physicist, mathematician and businessmen. He say’s that it makes knowledge computable and available, such as an equation or real world information like the GDP of country, Internet usage of a nation or financial information about corporations such as Google. Although with some apparent room for improvement, Wolfram Alpha concentrates on giving the facts about things and giving useful information from authoritative sources, such as Wikipedia.

Already compared and considered whether competition for the Google search engine, the differences are clear. Wolfram Alphas seeks to deliver calculated answers and facts, whereas Google returns pages from across the Internet ranked in order of calculated relevance. Wolfram Alpha may be more easily compared with Google Squared to be found on Google labs later this month and eventually launched here. Google squared is being developed to return organised facts from across the Internet.
